Unique research recognized by the European Union has demonstrated that preoperative administration of SANOPAL – with its combination of AKG (alpha-ketoglutarate) and 5-HMF (5-hydroxymethylfurfural) – improves physical performance and reduces the strain on the body caused by surgical stress. The results also showed a shorter hospital stay and fewer postoperative complications.
Surgery places a significant physical strain on the body and is often associated with an increased risk of postoperative complications. Taking SANOPAL before surgery specifically supports metabolism and can help optimally prepare the body for the surgical procedure.
Furthermore, the study authors believe that the positive effects can be further enhanced by supplemental postoperative intake of α-ketoglutaric acid (AKG) and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF).

Study on Lung Surgery
In this blinded, prospective, randomized study, SANOPAL was administered preoperatively over a 10-day period. This resulted in a significant reduction in the length of hospital stay compared to the placebo group (9.9 days vs. 16.2 days). The length of stay in the intensive care unit was also significantly shorter in the study group (0.6 days vs. 2.6 days).
After surgery, the study group showed a tendency toward fewer postoperative complications. In addition, measured oxidative stress was significantly reduced by taking SANOPAL.
Another positive effect was improved physical performance prior to surgery. This allowed patients to be better prepared for the surgical procedure and to benefit from a shorter recovery period.1
Seal of Excellence
The Seal of Excellence is an award given to projects or initiatives that demonstrate high quality or performance but have not received financial support. Particularly in the context of the European Union’s research and innovation programs, the Seal of Excellence is awarded to proposals that are of high quality but are not eligible for funding due to limited financial resources. This seal is intended to promote recognition of the quality of the submitted projects, even if they do not receive direct financial support.
Among other factors, the economic benefits resulting from significantly shorter hospital stays and the associated potential for cost savings were decisive in awarding the distinction.
